Does anyone else sometimes get random monty python gifs when trying to access livejournal or am I just crazy?

I'm irrationally moody and I just stuffed three fun sized 3 Musketeers in my face. It is NOT time for this, god damn it. Seriously, i just had a period a week and a half ago. My cycle is completely fucked, lately.

The unending, constant, torrential rain isn't doing me any favors either.

And my site is down. Which is my fault but there are extenuating circumstances. Our bank sold out to Wells Fargo at the end of last month and they issued new check cards. I forgot to change my hosting account information, so the old card didn't go through this month. They sent me an email giving me a week or so to update it, but being the ohsodistracted crazy person I've been for, say, the last 6 months, I neglected to do this. I can't even fix it from work because of security measures at linode.com. This IP address isn't whitelisted to be able to log into my account info. I like this, but it's very annoying as I also can't access the email account that would allow me to whitelist this IP address due to security measures at work. Grrr.

I have so many other things I could bitch about, too. But I won't. Because they all annoy the piss out of me.

And just like that, I'm 37. This bothers me to an irrational degree. I mean, it's no different than 36, really. I don't know. I don't like saying outloud or writing down that I'm 37. It's ick inducing, somehow. I can't explain it to all you youngsters. ;p

My birthday was kinda meh. I'd spent both Sunday and Monday feeling like death warmed over from a stupid head cold. I took the day off work, but Shane woke me up at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m. so we could all eat breakfast together before he left for Arizona. It was nice, after my first cup of coffee. The kids loved it. Ali wanted to do it again this morning, but I burst her bubble on that pretty quick. After breakfast, I took Ryan and Ali to school and then came home and made another pot of coffee. I vegged and played on the internet all morning and then did a little shopping. I picked up The Secret Life of Bees and The Vampire Chronicles. I'm working on the former now and really like it so far.

The MIL called later that afternoon and wanted to buy me a drink, and hey - free liquor! I'm all about that, so I met her at a bar close to the house. Then I went to the grocery store (second home) and Blake and I cooked enchiladas for dinner. After a shaker of martinis (grapefruit pomegranate juice + vodka), I played around some more on the internet and went to bed at 10:30 like the fucking old person that I am. *Aside to Beth: I really, really tried to stay awake, but I am old and lame and fell asleep like a loser. :(*

So yeah, that was my birthday. It was actually a very nice day, even though I'm bummed about being 37. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be more immature than ever to make up for it. ;)

So, I've been wanting to try it for a while now and I finally broke down and installed linux on Shane's old laptop. The one he dropped. The one that's seriously messed up. And I got it to work for a whole 24 hours before it crashed again. :)

I went with debian because that's what a friend of mine uses so I knew if I had any questions, he could help me. I loved it. So much. If it weren't for photoshop and my camera software, I'd switch this computer over. I can't even explain what it is about it that I love so much, but I do. So, now I need to buy a new hard drive for the broken laptop so I can reinstall and play with it some more.

I had to install from my usb thumb drive because the cd/dvd drive is also broken. That's not really a big deal, though since the usb thing works so damn well.

I had to go to a brunch bridal shower this morning - an hour out of town. It was ok, though. There were mimosas and there were not any stupid shower games. I got some cute pictures of Ali (she's going to be a flower girl in the wedding this summer) that I will upload and process at some point tomorrow. Unless I get bored tonight. Whichever. ;)

I cooked tonight. I love to cook, but I don’t do it often anymore.

Ingredients:

all measurements are approximate. I kind of eyeball everything

1 package 3 cheese tortellini
1 package hot italian sausage
1 package dried porchini mushrooms
2 cups sliced cremini mushrooms
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1 clove chopped garlic
2 tbsp fresh thyme
2 tbsp butter
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup drinkable white wine

Soak dried porchinis in white wine - 30 minutes

Remove casings and brown italian sausage, chop coarsely
set aside on paper towels - reserve fat

Boil water for pasta

In the pan with the sausage drippings, add in butter
heat until bubbly and add in garlic
saute for a couple minutes
add creminis, green onions, and thyme
season to taste with salt and black pepper
saute for 5 or 6 minutes or until mushrooms are browned
add porchinis and wine
bring to a boil and reduce by half
add heavy cream
whisk until combined
add sausage back in

Pour sauce over cooked pasta

Top with shredded cheese (I use a 6 cheese blend)

Eat until you pop.

Extroverted? Not so much. The other two I can agree with.

I was in the mall the other day, looking for something I don't even remember now, when I noticed our Waldenbooks is closing. I hate to see a book store of any kind close. Makes me sad. I went in a picked up a few bargain books. One being a Tapas cookbook.

Oh my. I want so much of this tapas!! Seriously. I want to have a tapas party and cook all kinds of little spanish appetizers! With booze! Lots and lots of booze! :D

The problem I have is that no one here would really appreciate it. They would like the booze, of course, but they wouldn't understand the premise of a tapas party. Superbowl party? Oh yes. Tapas? What the hell is tapas and what's this in the chicken? Is this steak? Lamb?! Who eats that?! Where are the hot wings? etc., etc. You get the picture. Don't get me wrong, I'm a great fan of hot wings and beer, but I'd like to have something a little more sophisticated, I guess. Maybe once the house is finished.

In other news, I have been incredibly lazy today. As in, still in my pajama pants lazy. It's shameful, but I don't care. I've really enjoyed vegging out and listening to music all day. I need to be trying to figure out why my .htaccess file isn't banning the ips I specified like it should be, but that would take more effort and brain power than I want to expend. ;p

So does finding a good ending to this post, apparently. ;)

I still need to buy candy. I always wait until the last minute on that so I don't eat (so much of) it. My ass thanks me. ;)

Well hell, I got all caught up in twitter and forgot I'd started this. XD I'm such a scatterbrain.

I'm going to watch a friend play at this deuling pianos thing tomorrow night. I'm really looking forward to it.

Tonight is trick or treat. I was going to dress up, but decided it would be too much trouble. I'm wearing halloween socks right now, so that counts. A little. ;)
